Nancy Dunbar, LPN, Alzheimer’s Specialist, recently completed a 2-day instructor training on Tai Chi for Arthritis in Hammondsport, NY. Sponsored by the New York State Department of Health, Tai Chi for Arthritis helps to reduce the pain and stress associated with arthritis. Today, 54 million adults live with arthritis. The Tai Chi for Arthritis program is a series of gentle physical exercises and stretches. Tai Chi is sometimes described as meditation in motion because it promotes serenity through gentle movements, connecting the mind and body. Tai Chi can improve muscular strength, flexibility, and fitness. It is suitable for adults of any age or physical ability. Nancy hopes to start a class this fall so more information will follow.
