Volunteering is Good for you and Good for others
On May 19, 2018 Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc.(COI) partnering with The Jamestown Renaissance Corporation sponsored a city wide clean-up aimed to beautify Jamestown. We had 44 volunteers from COI, consisting of staff, family members, head start children and their families. They cleaned-up a 12 blocks area around Baker Park in Jamestown.
Everyone felt it was a great Success, saying they want to volunteer again in the future. One Head Start Parent said she was so proud of how hard her daughter had worked that day. Another Head Start child said there was a big stick in the park that he could not lift this time, but would be back next year, when he was bigger and could lift it.
On June 2, 2018 from 9am to Noon, Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. will be partnering with Revitalized Dunkirk in their city wide Clean-up day. So far we have 54 volunteers signed up to help out. We are still looking for more volunteers; we will supply the Coffee, Donuts and COI Tee Shirts for the event. We will be meeting at the pavilion in Washington Park between Washington and Park Street in Dunkirk. Please contact Charlene Zerbe at 716-366-3333 ext. 1226 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org , if you would like to join the volunteer group, when doing so please give her your tee shirt size. Volunteers will be assigned varies jobs on this day.
When asking Charlene Zerbe what inspired her to start the volunteer groups? She said it was the giving spirit, she had witness of our COI employees. She has also asked if you are volunteering elsewhere in the community, please e-mail her the number of hours you volunteered and for whom you volunteered, by the 28th of each month. She will begin tracking all of our employee volunteer efforts in our communities.
Thank you to those of you who have already volunteered and those who are going to volunteer, we are very proud of our staff here at COI. You are AWESOME!
We will have other volunteer opportunities coming up in the near future.
