CDBG COVID-19 Funding
The City of Dunkirk and Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. announces the availability of funding to assist city residents with up to 3 months of past due rent or mortgage payments. Those eligible must have suffered a loss of income due to COVID-19. This assistance is available to individuals and families whose household income is less than 80% of the Area Median Income (see chart below). The household must be considered “rent-burdened,” which is defined as paying more than 30 percent of gross monthly income towards rent.

Those who are interested should contact Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. immediately by calling 716-366-8176, Monday – Friday, 8:30-4:30 PM and ask to speak to a Navigator about the City of Dunkirk Rent/Mortgage Relief Program. This funding is limited and available on a first-come first service basis. The City of Dunkirk will also be sending out foreclosure prevention and rental and mortgage assistance informational postcards to all City residents within the coming weeks.
