Inspection and Registration is part of the Early
Childhood Services Department’s role in ensuring the safety of children in
family child care throughout Chautauqua County.
The Council helps enforce quality standards by acting as
the liaison between state OCFS representatives and the local early care and
education communities.
Regular monitoring and inspection visits of registered
Family Day Care programs to ensure compliance of state regulations governing
these programs.
On-going technical assistance and support on NYS OCFS
regulations and child development issues
Fingerprinting of new providers
Investigation of complaints
On-going recruitment of providers in underserved areas of
the county and for 2nd/3rd shift and weekend care
Encourage network of legally exempt providers to become
licensed/registered.
