PROGRAM: Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
Description of Program / Service Provided:
A program whereby child care
providers are reimbursed for meals that meet nutritional standards and are
served to eligible children in their care, receive training and technical
assistance on meal preparation, nutrition, consumer tips, menus, etc.
History:
Federally funded program of the Food and Nutrition
Services (FNS), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Established by Congress to help ensure that children
receive nutritious, well-balanced meals while in child care.
New York State Department of Health, Division of
Nutrition is the administrative agency for the Child and Adult Care Food
Program in New York.
