Only available to any WIC participants who are nursing or
plan on nursing.
Breastfeeding Peer Counselors are experienced mothers who
have breastfed their children and are willing to support others to do the
same and have been trained in the curriculum of the NYS WIC Peer Counselor
Breastfeeding Program.
Under the guidance of the Program Coordinator,
Breastfeeding Peer Counselors provide Breastfeeding support, guidance, and
assistance to women during their prenatal as well as post-natal period,
either through one-on-one and/or telephone contacts, which are based on upon
their identified needs.
Basic and Advanced Breastfeeding Classes, which are
conducted and/or supervised by the Program Coordinator, are offered. Call
for more information or appointment.
Lending Library of Breastfeeding Reference Books is also
available.
All services are confidential and offered throughout
Chautauqua County.
Program is linked to the Breast Pump Rental Station, the
WIC Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, the
MOMS Prenatal Support Services and Home Visiting Programs, and the
Family/Child Health Plus Facilitated Enrollment Insurance Program.
