National Child Development Expert Dr. T. Berry Brazelton to speak at Jamestown Community College

Dr. T. Berry Brazelton National Child Development Expert Dr. T. Berry Brazelton together with his National Seminar Series Colleagues, will be presenting a Professional Training Seminar at J.C.C.’s Scharmann Theater in Jamestown,N.Y.on Thursday, June 17th at 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Cost to attend the seminar is $50.00 which includes lunch and conference materials. Dr. Brazelton is credited with establishing the Child Development Unit (a pediatric training and research center) at Children's Hospital in Boston, M.A., and he has published over 37 books on pediatrics and child development and authored more than 200 scientific papers.

Colleagues appearing with Dr. Brazelton include: Joshua Sparrow, M.D., Maria Trozzie, M.Ed., Kristie Brandt, C.N.M., M.S.M., N.D.

Seminar topics will include: Anticipating Turmoil as an Opportunity for Growth-Touchpoints in Adolescent Development; Touchpoints in Development: A model for Early Intervention; Helping Childern Cope with Stressful Life Events; Brazelton's Touchpoints Model: A Framework for Personal Practice and Community Collaboration.

One of Dr. Brazelton's foremost achievements in pediatrics is the Neonatal Behavioral Assessment Scale. This evaluation tool is used world-wide (clinically and in research) to assess not only the physical and neurological responses of newborns, but also their emotional well being and individual differences.

The event is being sponsored by the Chautauqua Child Care Council, a program of Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. Partial funding for this event is provided by the New York State Bureau of Early Childhood Services, and the Office of Children & Family Services.  Additional major contributors include: Dr. Tariq Khan, Chautauqua County Association for the Education of Young Children, Chautauqua County Head Start/Early Head Start, Chautauqua County Even Start, and Chautauqua County Department of Social Services.
