COI to Participate in Summer Feeding Program

DUNKIRK - Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc.’s (COI) Housing & Community Services Program will be participating in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) for the 2005 summer season.

Emergency Services Coordinator Gary Shain said, “COI has applied for and has again been accepted as the Chautauqua County provider of the Summer Feeding program.  This year’s program will begin July 1st and run through August 31, 2005.”

The Summer Feeding program is a USDA program administered through the New York State Department of Education.  It is an extension of the Free and Reduced School lunch program and is designed to insure as many Chautauqua county youth as possible receive at least one healthy, balanced meal during the day throughout the summer months.

Shain added, “This year COI plans on having as many as 25 sites throughout both the north and south parts of the county. We will be serving other agency's youth and developing our own sites in locations such as town and village parks and apartment complexes.”

Meals will be provided based on eligibility to all children 18 years and under without charge.  Acceptance and participation requirements for the program and all activities are the same for all regardless of race, color, national origin, sex age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.  Below is a list of sites that can be accessed by anyone:
