New Manikin to Help Home Care Trainees

Practice Personal Care Skills

DUNKIRK – Chautauqua Opportunities Home Care department recently purchased a new training manikin to use in training classes.  The 125-lb. manikin will offer trainees the opportunity to practice the personal care skills needed to care for a client in their own home.  The purchase was made possible through a grant received from the Lake Shore Savings Community Reinvestment Fund.

Home Care RN Cynthia Rizzuto said, “Our trainees will be able to practice bathing, transferring and lifting, using the manikin which has fully articulated limbs.  We are extremely grateful for the funding necessary to purchase this patient care manikin.”  The manikin is currently being used at our training facility in the village of Fredonia.

Chautauqua Opportunities Home Care conducts free training classes to those interested in becoming home care aides.  This training is available in both the north and south county areas.  The next set of classes will be offered from March 14-22, 2005 at the Russo Building at 1 Park Place on Route 20 in the village of Fredonia.  For more information, call Home Care at 366-3335.
