Chautauqua Opportunities for Development Inc. (CODI)

Approves and Disburses Loan For Business Improvement

A loan recently approved by Chautauqua Opportunities for Development, Inc. (CODI) will help an area business improve operations.

Patricia Anderson, the owner of Pick of the Litter, recently accepted a loan of $15,000. CODI Director of Economic Development, Diane Hewitt said, “Ms. Anderson has proven to us that she it committed to her business and she has the ability to run a successful business; therefore, she was approved for a second loan from CODI.”  Ms. Anderson, who has run the Pick of the Litter for over ten years, plans to use the loan to update, improve, and expand the business once again.  “Without the help of CODI’s loan fund, I don’t know what I would have done.  They have provided me with the chance to improve and expand my business for the second time since I opened,” says Ms. Anderson, “They have believed in me and my dreams.”

The Pick of the Litter first originated in the Falconer Veterinary Clinic and then moved to its current location in the old Humane Society building on Quaint Road in Falconer.  The move allowed Ms. Anderson to expand her services to include pet boarding and daycare, as well as grooming for both dogs and cats.  Patty and her partner have since renovated the kennel and runs.

Patty has over 22 years of experience as a pet groomer.  Before starting her own business, she worked for the Pet Smart Corporation as well as for a veterinarian.  Pick of the Litter has grown into a well-known and successful business establishment with many regular customers.  The business’ reputation for quality and reliability has allowed it to achieve such success.  Pick of the Litter is located in the former Humane Society building on the corner of Quaint Road and Elmwood Avenue and is the largest kennel in Chautauqua County.  There are three rooms available for grooming, an office, a lobby, and 32 kennels available for boarding or daycare.

Bring your dog or cat to the Pick of the Litter located at 1805 Elmwood Avenue on the corner of Quaint Road and Elmwood Avenue in Falconer, or call Patty at (716) 661-9707.  Allow Patty and her staff to satisfy your pet’s grooming, daycare, or boarding needs.

If you have questions about the services that CODI offers or are interested in applying for a loan with CODI’s Microenterprise Loan Fund or the Women & Minority Loan Fund, contact Diane Hewitt at 366-2334 ext. 12.
