COI’s Alzheimer’s Community Service Program Offers “Caresitter” Services

DUNKIRK – The Alzheimer’s Community Service Program of Chautauqua Opportunities Inc. offers free Respite Care hours to families who are taking care of loved ones afflicted with Alzheimer’s or any other related dementias.

Caregivers that are taking care of family members afflicted with Alzheimer’s or other dementias are encouraged to come join our support group.  Ideas and strength are drawn from each other at these support group sessions.  It is held on the second Wednesday of the month from 2:30 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. at the Steger Apartments in Dunkirk.

If you feel you are unable to attend due to a lack of a “caresitter,” we can help.  With one phone call to 366-3335, a qualified personal care aide can be scheduled to attend to your loved one in your absence.  This will enable you to not only have time to attend this support group but also to have extra time for yourself.

If you would like to access these services or gather information on other services offered through the Alzheimer’s Community Service program, contact Sally Sanderson at 366-3335.

The Alzheimer’s Community Service Program of Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. is funded by the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Chronic Diseases.
