Alzheimer’s Community Service Program Grant Extended

DUNKIRK – Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. Alzheimer Program Manager Sally Sanderson today announced that COI has received a grant extension that helps makes the Alzheimer’s Community Service program possible. The grant been extended for the 2005-2006 year. This program is funded through the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Chronic Diseases.

Services provided through Alzheimer’s Community Service Program include:

· Respite Care

· Trainings at all levels designed to meet in-service requirements

· Informational lectures to community groups.

· Lending Library consisting of books, videos, and pamphlets.

· Mailings of informational material upon request.

· House calls and advocacy upon request.

· Support Group

All services are free to the residents of Chautauqua County. Eligibility for Respite Care is a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s or other dementing illness.
