SUNY Fredonia Reed Library Staff Donate Books to Chautauqua Head Start/Early Head Start

DUNKIRK – Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. and State University of New York at Fredonia Reed Library officials gathered at Connections North in Dunkirk today so that Reed Library staff could present a donation of books to the Head Start/Early Head Start program.

Librarian Darryl Coleman said, “Each year the Reed Library staff decides on several worthy causes to support during the holiday season.  This year staff decided as one of their projects to sponsor a family and book drive for the Chautauqua County area.  After meeting and looking at organizations within this area we chose Chautauqua Opportunities Head Start program.”

The staff accepted book donations at a collection site set up at the main entrance of the library.

Head Start Deputy Director Tim Smith said, “We are grateful for the Reed Library’s donation of these children’s books.  Some of the books will be given to the children and families we serve and the remainder will stay in classrooms throughout our county-wide Head Start locations.”

Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. Head Start program is a comprehensive child development service for children from birth to age five, pregnant women, and their families.
