Fredonia
Place Presents Mitten Tree to
Head Start/Early Head Start
DUNKIRK –
Officials from Fredonia Place
and Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. joined today so that Fredonia
Place could present a “mitten tree” to the Head
Start/ Early Head Start program.
Fredonia Place,
an enriched housing community in the village
of Fredonia, delivered a live tree
decorated with scarves, mittens, hats, socks, and stuffed animals that had been
donated by Fredonia Place
residents, staff, and the Family Dollar store located on Fourth
Street in the city of Dunkirk. The items on the tree will be given to the
children enrolled in the Chautauqua Head Start program in the Dunkirk.
Head Start Connections North Program Manager Patty
Hammond said, “We are grateful for Fredonia
Place and Family Dollar’s donation. Now during these cold, winter months, we can
be assured that the children in Head Start who need mittens and hats to keep
their hands and heads warm can get them through this ‘mitten tree’.”
Fredonia Place Activities Director Judy Roberts and
Activities Assistant Rachel Vazquez commented, “The
Mitten Tree will become a tradition at Fredonia Place. Head Start does a lot for families in the
area and the Fredonia Place
‘family’ is glad to help.”
Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. Head Start program is a
comprehensive child development service for children from birth to age five,
pregnant women, and their families.
