Chautauqua Child Care council Holds Provider Appreciation Day Celebration

The Chautauqua Child Care Council held a Provider Appreciation dinner on Thursday, May 5, 2005 to recognize child care providers and early care and education professionals. The dinner took place at the Cassadaga Legion Post 1280 in Cassadaga. Over 225 providers representing licensed child care centers, registered school-age programs and licensed/registered family and group family day care providers, and community members attended the event. Providers celebrating benchmark years of services were recognized, including:

30 years - Lidia Mleczko
25 Years - Cheryl Hill
20 Years - Ana Cruz, Maureen Dlowniak, Alice Hulings, Connie Juul
10 Years - MaryJo Apthorp, Ginger Guichard, Judy Rhodes, Cindy Stiles, Kathryn Wozniak
5 Years - Krys Baggiano, Karen Gill, Melissa Hultberg, Elaine Mansfield, Elena Marsala, Julie Miles, Shawn Price, Brenda Riley, Linda Swanson, Jen Vaillancourt, Janet Valentin, Rosalie VanGuilder, Carrie Willis, Danielle Yuengert

Providers celebrating benchmark years of service received gifts and certificates from Council staff in recognition of their dedication and service to children and families in Chautauqua County. A proclamation from County Executive Mark Thomas was read that proclaimed May 5th as Chautauqua County Provider Appreciation Day.

The Chautauqua Child Care Council, a program of Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. is a child care resource and referral program offering referrals to parents in search of quality care, assistance for parents in paying for care; child and adult care food program for licensed/registered family and group family care providers; training and technical assistance for providers; assistance in becoming a registered provider, community education, and outreach to local businesses on developing family-friendly benefit packages. Cummins, Inc. Employees Help Painting COI's Safe House Rooms

Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc.'s Safe House, serving all of Chautauqua County's youth, recently received a fresh coat of paint courtesy of the employees of Cummins, Inc. Cummins, Inc. sponsored the community involvement effort.

Safe House Director Bill Vogt said, "I, along with the Safe House employees, would like to extend a big thank you to Cummins, Inc. and all the employees who so generously volunteered their time." Over a period of two days, nineteen Cummins Inc. employees volunteered a total of seventy six hours, painting five bedrooms, one bathroom and the dining room.

The safe House is a program of Chautauqua

Opportunities, Inc. and provides emergency shelter, food, clothing, transportation, crisis counseling, self-sufficiency facilitation services, advocacy and referrals to at-risk youth age 17 and under.
