The Alzheimer’s Community
Service Program was recently contacted by the New York State Department of
Health regarding additional funding made available to this service.
Through a tax credit check-off,
the Community Service Program is eligible to receive an additional $9,200.00
in funding.
The additional money will be used
to improve and expand on educational opportunities, available to all area
home care agencies and nursing homes. The service is available to the
public, as well, and is free of charge. Services are also available on an
individual basis.
Alzheimer’s Specialist, Sally
Sanderson, RN, recently completed the “Support Group Facilitator”
training which was held in Depew, and she plans to get a local support group
started once again, very soon. Watch your local newspapers for future
advertising of this service, and organization of the support group.
Most recently, the COI program
collaborated with the Alzheimer’s Association of Western New York to
present a “Lunch and Learn” session targeted at individuals who just
need to make contact with others experiencing similar difficulties.
For more information regarding this free educational
service, contact Sally Sanderson, RN at 366-3335.
