CHAUTAUQUA OPPORTUNITIES INC. ANNOUNCES ADDITIONS TO SAFE HOUSE STREET OUTREACH PROGRAM

 

Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. is pleased to announce Christina Rosengren & Billy Witherspoon as the newest additions to the Safe House Street Outreach Program, which is a division of Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. The Program is designed to develop the trust between staff of the Safe House and youths on the street and to provide “curbside” counseling year round in a non-threatening, non-judgmental manner as well as supplying survival kits to runaways and homeless youths. The Street Outreach staff also promotes community awareness by holding presentations at schools, churches, and other community programs. The goal of the program is to identify and assist at risk youth in the community.

Christina RosengrenAs the Street Outreach Coordinator, Mrs. Rosengren is responsible for supervising the day –to-day operations of the Safe House Street Outreach Program. This includes supervision of the Outreach Staff, coordination of outreach efforts, networking with other agencies, providing outreach services, planning, prioritizing, and evaluating services of the Outreach Program to the community and youth. Mrs. Rosengren also coordinates the presentation and prevention education services as well as hosting community / school informational presentations.

Mrs. Rosengren is a graduate of Jamestown Community College with an associate’s degree in Social Sciences with a concentration in Psychology. She is also a graduate of SUNY Fredonia’s Bachelor of Social Work Program with a Bachelor’s degree in Science. Christina intends on pursuing her Master’s Degree in Guidance Counseling beginning in January 2002. She has enjoyed working with the youth for the past six years. Her experience includes working with the Jamestown Boys and Girls Club And the Southern Tier Non Secure Detention Center. She also received training in the areas of child welfare, B.A.S.E., CPR / First Aid, Conflict Resolution, and Universal Precautions.

Billy WitherspoonAs an Outreach Worker for the Safe House Street Outreach Program, Mr. Witherspoon will assist the Outreach Coordinator in formulating and implementing street outreach procedures. He will act as a liaison between the Safe House and youth-related agencies in the community. He will also be involved in community awareness projects.

Mr. Witherspoon is a graduate of Jamestown High School and has served as an after school tutor at S.G. Love Elementary School. He has also served as a teacher’s aid at R.R. Rogers Elementary School. Mr. Witherspoon has been trained in Peer Counseling and Conflict Resolution at Cathedral City High School in Cathedral City, California.
